On the 25th of May, we had a team of special guests visiting our studio for our very FIRST workshop! They are the Etsy team from Australia, 7 of them (Photos below) and Cintia from My Poppet blog. Laura, the Etsy Au PR also made a blog about us, read here.
It has been a long time coming, we've always wanted to explore hosting a workshop and the possibilities. We are so so grateful that the Etsy team happily joined us for a fun day! It was such an amazing day and a very fun one - lots of stories sharing, laughing and taking photos.
First, Patrick showed them around when I was half way getting ready in the toilet. He shared with them the stories how we built our studio space and some other things. We then showed them our very own studio space which is located at the back of Studio Ocho Ocho (creative co-working space), the 3d printers, our prototypes and some of our products.
When Cintia arrived, we went to the first floor of Studio Ocho Ocho, they were greeted with an Ice cream parlour style workshop table and a drive in picnic setting and of course a custom made 3d printed signage just for them!
It's our very FIRST workshop and it's extremely special, Patrick took most of the photos for us. We then gave them a little presentation about what 3d printing is and how MIMAW uses the technology and why we're doing what we're doing. Of course it was followed by a 3d printing demo which we printed the Etsy logo for them to take away and display it at their office!
While we waited for the print to finish, we then took them to the journey of our prototypes and our 4m stall (for the Finders Keepers last year).
We then started our workshop with a special 3 scoops ice cream which we designed and made just for the workshop, along with our 'lunch box', packaging, and well almost everything!
At one point, everyone was just so quiet! Noone was actually talking anymore and the ladies were so into it (which makes me really happy, so happy that they were enjoying the process). We actually played 'Werk werk werk' by Rihanna for a bit after Anna said that for some reason, the song just popped in her head. Fourty-five minutes and lots of beautiful mess later, they all had their triple scoops done! So proud of them all, they are all so unique as well, everyone had their different takes. They also named their own Ice cream.
We know everyone is unique, and it's just so interesting how each of them expressed it on the ice cream. All Ice creams look delicious and are all beautiful in their own way.
We're so grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow from this workshop! All thanks to these ladies, we now have more confidence to push on the idea of having future classes / workshops. We are so glad that they had fun with the experience, means a lot. Thank you...
